Reading 2 Kings 25 for Monday, June 23rd. Kings were prisoners and the temple was ransacked and plundered for bronze and gold.

Reading 2 Kings 24 for Saturday, June 21st. People of Israel were exiled to Babylon as prophesied, and only the poorest people were left in their home city.

Reading 2 Kings 23 for Friday, June 20th. Josiah established the Passover and brought back purity by removing pagan gods and priests, then he died in battle and was succeeded by another king who returned Israel to more idol worship.

Reading 2 Kings 22 for Thursday, June 19th. Josiah is king at 8 years old. He tore his robes in grief after hearing the words of the law.

Reading 2 Kings 21 for Wednesday, June 18th. Kings were bad, and then when a certain king was assassinated, the people rose up to king Josiah instead of the assassin.

Reading 2 Kings 20 for Tuesday, June 17th. Hezekiah got sick and was going to die, but God spared him and made a shadow go backwards. Hezekiah’s offspring was predicted to be enslaved to Babylon, but he was glad that there would be peace in his lifetime.

Reading 2 Kings 19 for Monday, June 16th. Hezekiah is encouraged after receiving a prophecy about the kings of Assyria and their upcoming downfall.

Reading 2 Kings 18 for Saturday, June 14th. Israel is taunted by its confident enemies.

Reading 2 Kings 17 for Friday, June 13th. Even unbelievers saw that disobedient Israel needed to get right with their God.

Reading 2 Kings 16 for Thursday, June 12th. A king sends ahead plans to have an altar built before he gets back home.

Reading 2 Kings 15 for Wednesday, June 11th. Kings without righteousness.

Reading 2 Kings 14 for Tuesday, June 10th. More kings did not take down the high places.

Reading 2 Kings 13 for Monday, June 9th. Many other kings were bad too. Elisha prophesies while sick, and dies. A dead man came to life after coming in contact with Elisha’s bones.

Reading 2 Kings 11 for Friday, June 6th. A boy who would gave otherwise been executed was crowned king at 7 years of age after his hiding.

Reading 2 Kings 10 for Thursday, June 5th. Jehu had Ahab’s seventy sons beheaded and all the priests of Baal slaughtered, but still allowed the worship of a golden calf.

Reading 2 Kings 9 for Wednesday, June 4th. Elisha’s prophesies are fulfilled and Jezebel comes to her grisly and gory demise.

Reading 2 Kings 8 for Tuesday, June 3rd. Elisha prophesied that there will be a new king who does horrific things with his power to the people.

Reading 2 Kings 7 for Monday, June 2nd. Elisha prophesies an end to the famine.
