Reading 2 Corinthians 2 for Saturday, August 30th. Don’t be too harsh with those who have been reprimanded. Bring them comfort and encourage them to get back on track. We don’t peddle the word of God for profit, we gladly share it as men sent from God.

Reading 2 Corinthians 1 for Friday, August 29th. Paul writes about comfort, and his brush with death in Asia.

1 Corinthians 16

Reading 1 Corinthians 16 for Thursday, August 28th. Paul writes about how to save contributions up for supporting the leaders and missionaries and instructs them to welcome Timothy and Apollos. Thanks are given to the faithful leaders who use their house to host the church meetings. Lots of encouragement.

1 Corinthians 15

Reading 1 Corinthians 15 for Wednesday, August 27th. Paul writes to remind the believers at Corinth of the gospel, that resurrection from the dead is possible, and that one’s resurrection body is not the same as our current body. Encouragement is also included that our labor is not in vain.

Reading 1 Corinthians 14 for Tuesday, August 26th. Paul writes to discuss the role of speaking in tongues and prophesy in the church.

2 Chronicles 15

Reading 2 Chronicles 15 for Monday, August 25th. Asa became confident enough to stand up to the foreign religious practices in his kingdom and even in his own family after hearing a message from God through a prophet.

2 Chronicles 14

Reading 2 Chronicles 14 for Saturday, August 23rd. Asa was a king that actually trusted God and prayed to Him, as well as taking down the high places where detestable worship of non gods took place. God gave Asa victory against his enemy.

2 Chronicles 13

Reading 2 Chronicles 13 for Friday, August 22nd. Rehoboam opposes Jeroboam in battle and states the position each of them have. Jeroboam has more men, Rehoboam has God’s favor. Jeroboam dies in battle and Rehoboam captures more cities and has lots of children and wives.

2 Chronicles 12

Reading 2 Chronicles 12 for Thursday, August 21st. Rehoboam ignored God and was attacked by Shishak, the king of Egypt. He repented and was spared from total destruction. Rehoboam did some good, but certainly was not a great king.

2 Chronicles 11

Reading 2 Chronicles 11 for Wednesday, August 20th. Rehoboam wanted to regain control of his kingdom, but God had a different plan, asking them to go back home. Jeroboam started idol worship and appointed new priests after the Levites left. Rehoboam had a fast growing family and walked in David’s ways.

2 Chronicles 10

Reading 2 Chronicles 10 for Tuesday, August 19th. Rehoboam is the new king. The Israelites ask for a break from their labor expectations, but are given a harsh reply, so they become disillusioned. Taking advice from childhood buddies and ignoring advice from the elders does not prove to be profitable.

Reading 2 Chronicles 9 for Monday, August 18th. Solomon impressed the Queen of Sheba with his wisdom and accomplishments. Many rulers gave generous gifts to Solomon, and Solomon was a generous giver as well. After forty years of reigning, he died.

Reading 2 Chronicles 8 for Saturday, August 16th. Solomon took over some cities, finished the temple, appointed Israelite men to lead, and foreigners to be led. He made a separate place for Pharaoh’s (unholy) daughter to stay. People did what they were told in detail.

Reading 2 Chronicles 7 for Friday, August 15th. God filled the temple with his glory. Lots of sacrifices were made, and God tells Solomon what will happen to the temple if Israel worships other gods.

Reading 2 Chronicles 6 for Thursday, August 14th. Solomon publicly prays for the temple and for Israel.

Reading 2 Chronicles 5 for Wednesday, August 13th. God moves into His new place. Everybody celebrates and worships with sacrifice and music.

Reading 2 Chronicles 3 for Monday, August 11th. Solomon begins work on building God’s temple and gives a few measurements (in cubits) as to how big things are that he’s building.

Reading 1 Chronicles 29 for Thursday, August 7th. David gives much of his fine gold and stones to the project, and invites others to do the same. Solomon is affirmed as king. David prays and then dies.
