Have you ever met someone who claims to be something they are not?
\nHave you ever acted a certain way to be accepted, even though it
\nwasn’t really you?
\nHow do we know when someone has integrity or not?
\nHave you ever heard the phrase “you know a tree by it’s fruit”?
\nWhat does that mean?<\/p>\n
That phrase means that despite what we claim to be, our actions and
\nway of life are evidence for who we really are. Some people claim
\nthat they don’t care when they are made fun of, but cry about it.
\nSometimes the words and actions don’t match up.<\/p>\n
James 3:9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with
\nit we curse men, who have been made in God?s likeness. 10 Out of the
\nsame mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.
\n11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12
\nMy brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs?
\nNeither can a salt spring produce fresh water.<\/p>\n
Can you think of an area of your life where you claim one thing, but
\nlive another?<\/p>\n
Are you a good person, but consistantly say and do mean, selfish or
\ncareless things?<\/p>\n
Are you claiming to be a Christian, but not following Christ?<\/p>\n
It is not always an easy task to do what God wants, but it is always
\nright.<\/p>\n
How can we say God is perfect, but reject His commands? When we
\nchoose to make fun of others, cuss, break the law, disobey our
\nparents, ignore the needs of others, serve ourselves before others,
\netc, etc., we are not an example of Jesus. Saying you are a Christian
\nbears little weight if there is no evidence.
\nChristian means ‘follower of Christ”. Follow requires action. Does
\nyour fruit match the tree you claim to be?
\nWhat changes do you need to make?
\nAre you really going to make those changes, or just intend to?<\/p>\n
