Discussion: Consequences

What does it mean to have consequences?

Some philosophies beileve in Karma. What is the difference between Karma and Consequences?

Tell about a time you got what you deserved that was bad: (as a result of a bad decision)

Tell about something good that resulted from a decision or action you made:

How about a time you suffered as a result of something beyond your control? (somebody else’s choice)

“A kind man benefits himself, but a cruel man brings trouble on himself. [18] The wicked man earns deceptive wages, but he who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.”
-(NIV) Proverbs 11:17-18

There is an event that we benefit from if we choose to accept it. Christ died for our sins to be forgiven as stated in Isaiah:

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
-(NIV) Isaiah 53:5

We are healed from our sin sickness and able to relate to God.

“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
-(NIV) Romans 10:9-10

Think about the possible consequenses of decisions you are making today. Ask God to direct your steps toward a more righteous way. Allow God’s word to generate good consequences for your life.
