What does it mean to commit to something?
com·mit
/kəˈmit/
Verb
1. Carry out or perpetrate (a mistake, crime, or immoral act): “he committed an uncharacteristic error”. 2. Pledge or bind (a person or an organization) to a certain course or policy.
You determine the course of your actions beforehand.
For example: I commit to be faithful to Karyn in marriage until death.
What are other commitments you and I could make?
Do some commitments require more thought?
If you break a commitment, what are the consequences? Are some worse than others?
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” -Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)
If you commit your plans to The Lord, they change into God’s plans. God’s plans succeed.
Is it scary to trust God to alter your plans?
