Discussion: Discipline

Stern discipline awaits him who leaves the path; he who hates
correction will die.
Proverbs 15:10

When you were young, how did your parents train you not to touch a hot
stove?
If you were to disobey that teaching, what would the result be?
If you were to go through life without guidance or structure, what do
you think the results would be?
As a little kid, what was the price for disobedience?
As you get older, would you say the stakes are higher?

If you stray from the right path, discipline is necessary to get you in
the right place. This discipline is a result of love; a desire for you
to thrive and be healthy. If you ignore correction, you choose a
different path. The alternate path is destructive. It may seem more fun
in the moment, you may receive immediate gratification, but in the long
run, it leads to pain, heartache, broken relationships, physical and
even eternal death. Next time you find yourself thinking a loved one is
being too harsh with you, maybe you should consider their motives.
Are you on the right path?
Would you rather receive stern discipline and live, or leave the path
and die?
If you accept correction, as hard as it may be, what is the result?

Stern discipline awaits him who leaves the path; he who hates
correction will die.
