Reading 1 Kings chapter 2 for Thursday, April 17th. Solomon takes advice from David and established his kingdom firmly with a few executions and some leadership changes.

Reading 1 Kings chapter 1 for Wednesday, April 16th. David gets weak and cold, and a son of his declares himself king, so David appoints Solomon king and sets him on the throne over Israel.

Reading 2 Samuel 24 for Tuesday, April 15th. David counts his men, and picks his consequence.

Reading 2 Samuel chapter 23 for Monday, April 14th. David recognizes the most valiant and mighty warriors that supported his battle efforts.

Reading 2 Samuel chapter 20 for Wednesday, April 9th. Sheba runs to a fortified city and that city is attacked by Joab’s troops, until a wise woman learns that Sheba is a wanted man, so his head is thrown over the wall, ending the siege.

Reading 2 Samuel chapter 19 for Tuesday, April 8th. David mourns, then is invited to return to rule the land. He shows mercy to Shimei and rules again.

2 Samuel 18

Reading 2 Samuel chapter 18 for Monday, April 7th. Battle ensues in the forest. David’s son and rival king is accidentally stuck in a tree and purposefully killed by David’s men. David mourns the news.

2 Samuel 17

Reading 2 Samuel chapter 17 for Friday, April 4th. Hushai’s bad advice is taken over Ahithophel’s good advice, and Ahithophel loses hope and his will to live.

2 Samuel 16

Reading 2 Samuel chapter 16 for Thursday, April 3rd. A guy throws rocks and dirt at David and his men. Absalom sleeps with his dad’s ten concubines in a tent on the palace roof. Two advisers give Absalom bad advice.

Reading 2 Samuel chapter 15 for Wednesday, April 2nd. David fled the palace once Absalom took Hebron and the hearts of the people.
