When have you been forgiven?
What happened?
(read Matthew 18:21-35)
So when should we forgive?
What would happen if the guy in debt had not plead for mercy?
Would it then be wrong to throw the guy who owed money in debtor's prison for his unpaid debt?
Have you heard it taught that we should forgive people who are not sorry for what they did?
We should not hate people who have wronged us, because hatred is not God's plan for His people. We can let go of bitterness, because it is God's role to judge men, but this passage warns us about not forgiving people who earnestly ask for mercy, and know they deserve to pay for their wrongs.
