In 1 Samuel 13 I read that Saul provoked a fight with the Philistines, so they assembled to fight the Israelites, which made some of the Israelites quake with fear. Saul was asked to wait for seven days before Samuel would come and offer a sacrifice to God and seek the LORD’s direction. While he was waiting for Samuel, he did not see him. Saul decided to offer the sacrifice himself, which displeased God and changed the direction of God’s favor regarding Saul’s future reign as king.
